Description
A lot of 4 Egyptian steatite scarabs and a scaraboid. Lot includes a pair of New Kingdom steatite examples, one with a blessing reading 'establish they name with a child,', (18 x 13mm), and the other reading ‘Good God, Lord of the Two Lands, Beloved of Amen-Re’, (17 x 13mm). The third is a New Kingdom steatite scaraboid with interesting body type, the base with the head of the goddess Hathor between erect cobras (uraei), (15 x 14mm), and the last is a 2nd Intermediate steatite scarab, c. 1750 - 1570 BC, with an interlocking scroll device on the base, (15 x 11mm). A couple with minor chipping, each holed for suspension. Ex Collection of an Cheltenham, England Doctor From the 1950's.
