NATIVE AMERICAN CLOTHING - Fine Metis Cree Embroidered Shirt, circa 1875, in buttery deerskin, suede side out, having beautifully worked floral collar, back and neck plackets with fringe, pocket and cuffs with dagged edge, (all with purple silk edging), short fringe on the length of the sleeves at front, dagged botttom edge, linen lined, completely handstitched, all with an incredibly fine hand. Roughly 18" shoulder, 21" sleeve. Old repaired hole just below front placket, loss to silk ribbon, otherwise in remarkably good condition, minor soiling. Conserved by the Museum Textile Services of Andover, Mass. From the Richard Wagner Collection.
