Baule people, African (Ivory Coast), 20th century. Hand carved and patinated figural wood ceremonial vessel with fitted lid at top with seated nude male holding a stick as finial, body of container with four facial masks, each with geometric scarification on forehead and cheeks, circular and other geometric patterning throughout, overall on a lobed circular base. Unmarked. Approximate height 19.3", diameter 8.4". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia.
