US Navy recognition die cast models of Japanese boats within case. Includes the following models: Awazisan Maru,Heian Maru, Hoyo Maru, Yasukuni, Sinsei Maru, Nissin Maru, Mikage Maru,Tatukami Maru, Arimazan Maru, Kano Maru, Nagisan Maru, Amakasu Maru, Tyoko Maru, Hokkai Maru, Aden Maru, Africa Maru, Hakusan Maru, Peking Maru, Teiyo Maru, Kimikawa Maru, Koryu Maru, Kamogawa Maru, Kinposan Maru, Boston Maru, and Bangkok Maru. The case has a glass lid, allowing the models to be seen while the case is closed. The box measures 32 inches wide by 15 inches tall by 2.5 inches thick. The box has a paper label which reads: "Comet Museum Display Case Japanese Merchant Ships". The Nagisan Maru has a piece that has detached, however this piece is included. One ship has been replaced but is the correct model. Items in overall very good condition. Comet Metal Products issued standard sets of 25 Japanese merchant ships under Navy contract, in addition the Navy contracted four expanded sets containing 50 ships, to a higher level of detail than the standard sets. These were packed in gray wooden boxes with 25 to a side. One further set was apparently mounted in two glass cases for the museum and this auction presents one such case.
