Lot 0070 Details

Description
Silvered bronze in the form of the iconic Viking battle axe scaled to just under 2” height. Bearded bit with a circle rear lone, one side decorated with two lines of concentric dot/circles. The other with a cluster of punches. Hooded top socket. Over 1000 years old, made for ritual use, probably meant to be broken by throwing against a rock as were ringjarn as was the tradition shown on the Larbro Stone. Genuine ancient original artifact with some surface wear from burial, professionally refurbished and silvered. Mounted on a new sterling silver chain for modern wear.
