Jim Eppler (b. 1950), "Primed and Ready-Whitetail Buck", oil on canvas, 24 x 48 in., frame: 33.5 x 57 in.
Jim Eppler was born in 1950. He earned a BFA in Studio Art at Texas Tech and has studied with Bob Kuhn, Robert Wood, Bill Worrell, Raymond Froman, Charles Reid and Paul Milosevich. Eppler creates paintings and bronzes intended to depict the power, beauty, harshness and magnetic attraction of nature. His work reflects his life-long enchantment with wildlife. Eppler readily admits a romance with "the play of light and shadow, the way paint builds on canvas". While Eppler's art has encompasses a wide range of artistic genre and subject matter, animals and their habitats constantly draw him to their world. When researching particular species, Eppler moves quietly into the world of wildlife.
