Oil on canvas, laid down a chipboard
Netherlands, around 1840-60
Copy after Cornelis Kruseman (1797-1857) - Dutch historian, genre and portrait painter
Dimensions: 63.2 x 53.4 cm
Gilt frame: 76.2 x 67.5 cm
Good condition
Provenance: Private collection, Hesse
High-quality, fine painted copy after the entombment of Christ made by Cornelis Kruseman in 1830, which is in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam today

The painting is in good condition consistent with the age. The canvas is laid down on chipboard. The varnish is slightly darkened and obvious craquelé can be seen overall on the canvas. There are areas with scuffing due to the frame along the upper edges and corners of the canvas. A few spots with loss of color can be seen mainly affecting the part of the figures (Christ). And there are several retouched spots in the upper part and in the part of the figures. The frame shows traces of usage and spots with loss of color at the left and at the upper edge. The dimensions are 63.2 x 53.4 cm and the frame measures 76.2 x 67.5 cm. (msc)
