A collection of items found among the estate of an avid military collector , these four items are attributed to the 1898 Spanish American War. Saved in an envelope together with a note of explanation included with this lot were the following items, described below as they were on the collectors note:Labeled No. 1 , A Piece of a Spanish flag from the ship " Viz Caya" ( Stanchion flag) Item is a red and saffron gold colored piece of loose weave wool cloth folded in half and measuring approx 4 inches by 5 inches.Labeled No. 2 , Markline taken from the U.S.N. Ship the Maine after she was burned. Item is a section of triple twist rope line with knots that shows some salt like powder, brittle wax like coating and is stiff from age and measuring at approx 8 loops of 7.5 inches each.Labeled No. 5 , Piece of flag from the S.S. Ship Paug. Item is a dark red and grey piece of loose weave wool cloth folded in half and measuring approx 4 in by 7 inches folded over.Labeled No. 6, From General Garcia's Hat.Item is a piece of braided / woven reed as from a straw hat from the era of the Spanish American war. Measures approx 4 inches by 1 inch
