AMERICAN UNION CHILD'S OAK TOOL CHEST, retains original lithographic label attached to underside of lid, "BOYS UNION TOOL CHEST", as well as a number of what appear to be original tools, including hammer, mallet, plane, saws, and chisel, includes a hand-written note that was discovered inside the chest, dated "Dec 3 1899" from "East Creek, NJ" inscribed "From your Uncle / Nathan Wainewright". Pine secondary wood. Retains an old surface with warm color. Late 19th century. 4 1/2" H, 12 1/2" W, 6 1/4" D.
Hinges loose, possibly replaced or reset, and lid ill-fitting. Otherwise very good with minor wear.
Provenance: Property of a Rockingham Co. family.
