Anton Bruehl was born in Australia in 1900 and moved to the United States in 1919 to study engineering. He switched his area of study to photography after seeing an exhibition of photographs at the Clarence H. White School in New York. Bruehl was recognized for his stylish advertising still lifes, and for the celebrity portraiture and fashion photography he did for Vogue.
