Wilhelm Maywald, or Willy Maywald, was a German photographer who was well known for his portrait and fashion photography. He moved to Paris during the early 1930's, where he began his career of photo reporting, befriended other modern artists, and chose to live a bohemian lifestyle. He began to focus on fashion and celebrity photography, and often did so in unique backgrounds. He was one of the first fashion photographers to photograph his models in the streets of Paris
