    Pierre Verger, born Pierre Edouard Leopold Verger, was a French photographer and self-taught ethnographer who's fascination with the cultural flow to and from Africa is evident in his photos. He began is career as a photographer in 1932 at age 30, traveling across continents documenting civilizations that would soon be effaced by modern times.
