A Japanese Kakiemon porcelain bowl. Scalloped edged bowl having fine polychrome enamel decoration. The interior with a raised in relief floral motif surrounding a central roundel depicting a colorful Hou-ou bird (or Hoo-oo) the Japanese Phoenix. The border decorated with a geometric design. The exterior having a landscape of pine trees, rockery and branched flowers. Signed underfoot. Measures 7-3/8" diameter, 3.25" high.
