This exquisitely carved old jade sword pommel ornament or bi-style pei is most likely from the Qing Dynasty (1636 – 1911 ce) reflecting work from older periods. The small heavy disk features carving on both sides, feathers and cloud motifs, and appears to be dyed. The ornament is approximately 3 inches in diameter with 1/2 inch inner diameter, and is 3/8 inch thick (25.4 mm/in) with carved relief of varying depth.

Condition

The old jade exhibits surface alteration and a waxy luster from restoration. From a private collection, this amulet is clean, however will be sold without further restoration (as is).
