Mid-18th century, apparently unsigned, by repute modeled by Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775), surmounted by a putto with a basket of flowers, the domed cover over a conforming oblong bombe body flanked by gilt-highlighted foliate handles, all-over polychrome painted with flowers on a white ground, raised on an oblong gilt-bronze foliate and rocaille plinth, 2 pieces, the tureen: 11'' H x 13.75'' W x 8.25'' D, est: $1200/1800

The plinth: 2.75'' H. Overall good condition, with minor rubbed wear to gilt-painted decoration commensurate with age. Scattered inherent stable firing cracks, including two 1''-long cracks to base of one handle. Scattered minor losses to relief-decorated flowers and foliage of cover. Nicks and fleabites to edges of oblong base and an approximately .5''-long shallow nick to edge of bowl.
