  • Titles: "Battle of Gettysburg--3d day" and "Pickett's Charge"
  • Date: ca. 1870s
  • Markings: Original owner's signature on back- "Annie Rice"
  • Photographer: Mumper & Co. of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
  • Photographic stereoview is mounted on slightly curved mount board
  • Size: 7 x 3.5 inches

    Stereoscopy is a photographic technique to create the illusion of depth in an image by using stereopsis for binocular vision. The end result is called a stereoview, which has two offset views of the same image. When viewed through a stereoscope, the viewer perceives it as one 3D image.
