This is a Vintage African Songe Kifebwe Carved Wood Mask, Sotheby’s 2000, Private Collection. The mask of hollowed oblong form and pierced around the rim for attachment, the protruding pierced square mouth beneath the stylized nose leading to the single crested coiffure, flanked by protruding cylindrical eyes pierced through, the surface decorated with a radiating linear motif carved in low relief; aged and weathered patina with red, white and black pigment, minor cracking an wear, measuring approximately 24”.
