Lot 0008
A bentwood canteen in period blue paint and varnish with original carved wood stopped and part of the original leather strap with carved initials on one face reading AA, reverse with painted U.S. As the Union forces did not carry wooden canteen it is almost certain that this piece was captured from a CSA soldier and reused by a Union soldier. Canteen is 7 inches diameter x 3 inches deep. Found in the same Adams Co. Ohio estate as lots 7, 9, & 10.
