** A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit The Fowler Museum at UCLA **

Japan, 20th century CE. A trio of bright, fun papier mache animals. One, a rabbit in overall with glowing orange eyes, standing in an anthropomorphic pose; the second is an elephant with a bobbing head, a human, childlike figure seated atop its back; the tiger is magnificently painted, with open, snarling mouth and bobbling head. Size of largest: 19" L (48.3 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Morgan collection, Santa Monica, CA

Condition

On all, slight wear to paint. Elephant seems to be missing tusks and something is broken off of the hand of the figure. Tiger's tail can detach but also fits nicely back together.
