Pair of Contemporary Delft Apothecary Jars made for Colonial Williamsburg, labeled "C. Malvae" with Delft mark, blue and white. These containers were used from the seventeenth until the nineteenth century to store herbs and other medicines. C: Malvae is Conserva Florum Malvae. A conserve made from the petals of the mallow flower, mixed with sugar. Each measures appx 6 5/8 " tall 6" wide. Combined weight is 2 pds 11 oz. PROVENANCE: The Private Estate of a Atlanta, Georgia Antiques Dealer.
