OTIS S. WEBER (AMERICAN, B. 1847) NAUTICAL PAINTING, oil on canvas, depicting a vessel at full sail in twilight off a rocky coast, other boats in distance, signed lower right. Housed in an old molded giltwood frame. Circa 1875. 6 5/8" x 11 1/2" sight, 9 3/4" x 14 3/4" OA.
Minor craquelure and areas of discoloration throughout. Two-inch horizontal tear and small diagonal tear with associated old repairs and inpainting to sky. Frame with minor wear.

Catalogue Note: Otis S. Weber (b. 1847) was active in New York, Massachusetts, and Maine. A prolific artist, Weber was noted in his time as an accomplished painter of marine scenes. The present example, likely an early work for the artist, demonstrates Weber's natural grasp for the core elements of nautical work.
