BRITISH OR CONTINENTAL CARVED TREEN DOCTOR'S TRAVELING CASE, lignum vitae, engraved German silver armorial plaque applied to top of threaded cover, design featuring crown and winged dragons flanking coat of arms, banner below inscribed with "LIBERTE TOUT ENTIERE" (All Full Freedom) motto, two engraved German silver medial bands to body, fitted interior retaining five original instruments, each engraved with crown and winged bird. Fine old surface with rich color. Second half 18th century. 9 1/8" H, 3 5/8" D.
Cracks to cover and case with scattered surface wear. Lacking several instruments. Horizontal engraved band for cover loose.
