HUNGARIAN HEREND ROTHSCHILD BIRDS PORCELAIN COFFEE / TEA ARTICLES, LOT OF SEVEN, comprising one covered coffeepot with modeled floral finial, two demitasse/small cups, two saucers, one milk pitcher/creamer, and one covered sugar; edges molded with basketweave design, all with polychrome enamel decorations, and gilding. Marked with blue "HUNGARY" below shield and crown, most also impressed "HEREND". Herend Porcelain Manufactory, Hungary. 1915-1938. Coffeepot 8 1/2" H.
Damage at top of handle on coffeepot, and flakes on edges of floral finials of coffeepot and sugar cover, otherwise undamaged.
Catalogue Note: First developed in 1860, the Rothschild bird pattern is based on a family story that the baroness Rothschild lost a pearl necklace and several days later the necklace was found in a tree being played with by small birds.
