HUNGARIAN HEREND ROTHSCHILD BIRDS PORCELAIN ARTICLES, LOT OF SEVEN, comprising one double open salt, two ashtrays, one miniature tray with scalloped rim, two covered boxes, and one miniature vase. Six marked with blue "HUNGARY" below shield and crown, and one with "HANDPAINTED / HEREND / HUNGARY" around shield and crown. Herend Porcelain Manufactory, Hungary. 1915-1938. Vase 2 1/8" H.

Catalogue Note: First developed in 1860, the Rothschild bird pattern is based on a family story that the baroness Rothschild lost a pearl necklace and several days later the necklace was found in a tree being played with by small birds.
