The Chinese antique ritual bronze covered wine vessel cast with a deep 'U'-shaped body supported on three blade-form legs, finely cast in low relief to the center with a band of archaic Kui dragon motif, comprising two taotie masks. The curved handle surmounted by a buffalo head. The oval domed lid suspending four flanges surrounded a loop finial. The vessel with an overall mottled milky-green patina and some encrustation. The underside shows arrays of pictogram incised between the legs. The wine vessel gorgeously displayed upon a carved wooden stand in tripletail ruyi shaped motif.

PROVENANCE: From the heirs of Sir John Dorrington and the Vosper estates from Stroud Gloucestershire these items were purchased by a prominent antiques collector in 2008. Seeking historical and collectible items he attended numerous auctions and estate sales in the area as well as from nearby countries. Sometimes finding a rarity sometimes just the camaraderie of fellow collectors.
