Finely cast Chinese gilt bronze Buddha, in form of bodhisattva figure of Avalokiteshvara, with serene face and elaborate floral-decorated robe and jewelry, seated cross-legged in full Lotus position. Wearing a necklace with three pendent tassels and priest's robes cast with patchwork and with foliate borders, the hair worn in long knotted plaits and gathered up into a topknot within the openwork five point foliate crown. Right hand raised on chest level, in Shuni-Mudra gesture, with palm open slightly facing forward, the tip of middle finger and thumb touch, forming a circle, all other fingers are extended upwards which is gesture of great compassion. Left hand resting on his lap in Dhyanasana Mudra holding a vase. The Figure shows extensive trace of gilt. Beautifully displayed upon a carved hardwood stand.

PROVENANCE: Found in a plantation home near Nashville, Tennessee in 2014 at a downsizing Estate sale.
