DESCRIPTION:Lavish antique sterling lidded nut dish. Features an eldery and younger angel steering a sailtboat through rough seas, overlaid over the cobalt blue glass bowl. The bowl is flanked by two swan motif handles with coiled necks and a lid embellished with repousse floral motif and rosette top handle. Bowl rests on the tails of three dolphins and extends down to the squared base with repousse grape vines and further rosette decoration. Finished with four lion pawed feet and marked with an array of hallmarks, mostly illegible with the exception of a Greco-Roman Goddess facing left minerva head.
