Chinese crackle tripod censer, of compressed globular body rising to a waisted neck and flared rim, the lower sides with three raised edges extending to the pointed legs, covered overall, except for the tips of the legs, with a pale bluish celadon glaze suffused with fine crackles, 5.5 in diameter. Provenance: From a private Northern California estate by descent, purchased from Alice Boney Chinese Art in 1956. Accompanying this lot is a photocopy of original receipt (item #336), dated April 7, 1956.
