BRASS WILD & WESSEL SINGLE-ARM KEROSENE HARVARD STUDENT LAMP, electrified, embossed font with paneling under scroll and figural Mephistopheles ornamentation, air-draft cup shaft impressed "PATENT WILD & WESSEL BERLIN", supported by a central shaft and weighted circular foot, underside impressed "W & W / 1373", adjustable shade ring. Fitted with a period setup comprising a Wild & Wessel Kosmos burner, opaque white cone-form shade with flared top and polychrome Holly decoration, period colorless chimney. Second half 19th century. 21 1/2" HOA, 5 1/2" D base. Shade 5 1/4" H, 7" D fitter.
Brass in excellent condition, one side of font drilled for electrical cord. Burner lacking components and with alterations, shade and chimney undamaged and with normal roughness to rims, as made, wear to decoration on shade.
