Lot 0077
This lot is for a fantastic piece of 1959 Boston Athletic Association Track Race Original Art. The art is describing an upcoming race between Charles "Deacon" Jones and Hungarian Istvan Rozsavolgi. This is an original piece of art by Vic Johnson who was a very well known artist for the Boston Herald Newspaper. This is a pretty large piece of art, measuring 13 inches by 15 inches, and is signed by Johnson. Vic Johnson was a longtime Boston sports cartoonist, who gave the Boston Red Sox - in the long interval between their pennants of 1946 and 1967 - the nickname, "The Little Rich Kids." Deacon Jones would compete in the Olympics for the USA, in 1956 and 1960. Just a great piece of vintage original sports art.
