Group of 6 cinnabar boxes of varying shapes and sizes. Two of the boxes are round with black lacquer interiors and bottoms. They have scenes with people carved into the top. Two are double axe-head form and are also carved with people in landscapes on the tops. They have Buddhist motifs carved into the sides. One in a hexagonal diamond form with flowers carved into the top and sides. One is rectangular with a scene of people and buildings on the top and flowers carved into the sides. The bottom has a 6-character mark. Dimensions range from 4 1/4 inches wide to 6 1/8 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches high by 2 1/8 inches high. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The hexagonal box is in overall good condition. The rectangular box has some chipping, age wear, and imperfections on the bottom. The two round boxes have some chips and cracks but are in overall good condition. The double axe-head form boxes have chips. One is missing a segment but part of the segment was saved and is being kept inside the box.
