Jose Ortiz Echague was a Spanish photographer born in the Guadalajara region of Spain. In addition to being a photographer, he was also an entrepreneur, industrial and military engineer, pilot, founder of Construcciones Aeronauticas SA, and Honorary lifetime President of SEAT (Sociedad Espanola de Automoviles de Turismo). His photography reveals an inner conflict within himself: while he believed Spain must modernize itself, he was also well aware that modernization could lead to disappearance of tradition and landscape. His photos capture the cultural heritage of Spain, before inevitable change would occur.
