Very important & exceedingly rare QA ca 1735-1755 Boston or Salem MA carved Santo Domingo mahog turreted top, clam shell edge card table in completely orig condition throughout. Singular features include integrated reverse thumb molded upper & lower top edge, orig brass scissor hinges hidden w end grain mahog carved to conform to thumb mold surrounds, felt lined playing surface, orig casters & orig drawer w scratch inscription that reads "Buffington sold 1831" - believed to have descended in the Buffington family of the first minister of the Unitarian Church of Salem - one of the most important pieces of period furniture we have ever sold!
