The hilt with flattened knucklebow, profiled at the center, developing into the pas d'anes and secured to the bilobate guard with two screws,and the fluted quillon block with single spatulate quillon and guard with engraved vinework decoration. The flattened spherical pommel with baluster button, likewise engraved, grip retains its twisted brass wire wrap and iron ferrules, as well as four profiled and inset reinforces. The fine, long, slender blade wrought with a short fullers on each side, struck + ME FECIT+ and +SOLINGEN+. In its rare stitched leather scabbard with brass frog button intact. Last quarter of the 17th century. Faint line across blade near tip may indicate a period repair, scabbard with repair near opening and cloth patch to tip. Overall length 119.5cm. Condition III
