A seldom-encountered example of Polish or Ottoman work. The polished dark horn grips with characteristic profiled pommel and engraved tangband, the guard of engraved brass. The massive, curved and fullered blade with distinct yelman or back edge, struck at the forte with the maker’s initials NN and a sickle mark. Late 17th century. Light pitting to blade. Overall length 96.5cm. Condition III
