French Henri II Style Carved Walnut Marble Top Server, c. 1880, the broken arch top over a shelf above a pierced latticed plate rail flanked by turned tapered column supports, on a base with an inset highly figured rouge marble, over two frieze drawers above double cupboard doors with central high relief carved heads flanked by double turned and twist carved columns, on twisted tapered supports to a stepped sloped bottom shelf, on turned bun feet, H.- 67 in., W.- 51 1/4 in., D.- 18 7/8 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Two approximate 1 inch cracks in the sides of the crown. A 3 inch piece of trim from the back edge of the top and one column from the right door detached but present. An approximate 1/8 inch gap between the bottom piece of trim and the base. Key present for the cupboard but not for the drawers, which are locked. Light scratches, scuffs and dents intermittently throughout. Pinholes from wood beetle exposure throughout the crown. An approximate 6 inch vertical crack in the left door. A 2 inch hairline crack in the right door. A lovely example.
