Large Porcelain Covered Baluster "Palace" Urn, 20th c., the gilt ribbed lid over a sloping brown glazed neck, above sides painted with grape and leaf decoration, signed C. Mogel, on a socle support to a relief base, on an ebonized plinth, H.- 44 1/2 in., Dia.- 16 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Urn secured to ebonized base. Apparent repairs to the relief base. An approximate 12 inch crack across the top of one foot in the base with a smaller vertical crack from the center to the edge of the base. Another 12 inch crack from the top of the socle to the edge of the base. An approximate 1 cm chip in the socle. Center of urn slightly loose but secure. Light wear to the top. Scattered flea-size brown spots along the center. A charming piece.
