D-061 Nepal Gurkha socket bayonet. 11 1/2" curved kukri blade. Extends from a 4" socket, which was originally designed for the "Brown Best" musket. The first type were produced and put into service in approximately 1820. The above is a later model as it is free from any markings and has a smooth surface socket. This particular piece was acquired by an American liaison officer serving in the Middle East during WWII. He was given this bayonet by an Iranian Intelligence officer, upon his departure. The metal is basically clean with some surface discolorations. Scarce. II
