Seychelles Giant Double Coconut Polynesian Canoe Bailer w/Helm COA, circa 1900. Made of a giant double coconut shell, also known as a sea coconut or lodoicea, the item measures 12" x 14" x 6.5". Polynesian, possibly Tonga. The sea coconut is native to Praslin and Curieuse Islands off the eastern coast of Africa, and drifted eastward. This giant coconut is extremely rare and used to bale water out of a canoe. Ex. Maslyn Williams, author of Stone Age Island. Helm Certificate of Authenticity.
