  • Materials: Green cloth over boards, with front cover stamped in black and gilt and spine stamped in gilt and rear cover stamped in black

    Both hinges cracked. Boards very loose from text block, holding by a scrap of webbing. Heavy edgewear to binding, with corners bumped and rubbed to boards, heavy scattered rubbing, chipping to tail of spine, and light soiling. Small stains to fore-edge. Previous owner's name to front free endpaper and bookseller notations to rear pastedown. Many gatherings starting to loosen from text block. Pages are clean and unmarked. Frontispiece and in-text illustrations throughout. A very worn but still intact copy of this fascinating collection of stories concerning taverns, coffee houses, and clubs.
