“FROM THE COAL MARKET, PRAGUE” SIGNED AND NUMBERED T.F SIMON ETCHING. A vibrant scene of a bustling Prague street, this etching and aquatint published in 1910 is numbered #184 (believed to be of 200) pencil signed with the artist's cypher incorporated into the foreground cobble stone street. Marked at top left “Edite par Georges Petite, 8 rue de Seze, Paris, November of 1910.” Translated, it marks this piece as a desirable Georges Petit (1856-1920) color etching printed from his renowned Parisian Gallery in 1910. T. F. Simon (1877-1942) was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints.Very Good Vintage Condition.
