A flat woven Baluch salt bag from Southeast Persia, used for rock salt (not granular salt as we use in the West), and made for dowry, which helps to explain the good condition. These are not really used that often, but included in the dowry and preserved for posterity. The purple/aubergine ground color is quite lovely , the colors are vibrant clear and quite attractive. The handle is 'old' and it appears to be older than many we see in the marketplace or in source countries. The condition is good, with no holes, no tears or repairs. The colors are all derived from natural dyes. 1'1" x 2'2"
