The Pattern 1899 NCO Cavalry Sword Type 32 was used from the Russo-Japan War of 1905 until World War II; this example has the expected crosshatch wood and metal grip, a guard made of standard Japanese military grade steel, still retaining the leather finger loop on the inside, the machine-made blade having a long, wide fuller running its total length, with serial number 1787 on the ricasso, the replaced steel scabbard with a single suspension ring and the original locking mechanism. Sword: 38" L. Blade edge with tiny usage nicks; steel shows age and some discoloration; scabbard heavily rusted.
