Vintage Native American San Ildefonso Pueblo Lithograph Deer in the Rain by Richard Martinez, visual measures 13.5'' x 19'', hand written provenance on back of painting, lithograph was done by The Sedgwiki Co. of Nice, France, framed, matted, and under glass, hand signed by artist, FYI: ''Richard Martinez 1904-1987 born in the San Ildefonso Pueblo is a Native American artist who began to paint in 1920. Martinez also known by his Indian name Opa Mu Nu managed to outlast his contemporaries as an active and well-known painter painting into the 1960s. Martinez favored mythological and ceremonial subjects, and judging by the variety of each, Richard must have been well-versed in the lore of his people. Too, this artist was greatly influenced by Awa Tsireh and his three styles, painting in all of them. Realism-plus-abstract themes appealed to Richard Martinez, for it gave him great freedom for his apparently vivid imagination. The mode of abstract decoration was dominant in the San Ildefonso artist group, and Martinez is regarded as the pioneer of a rapid and through transition.''
