Lot 0020
Ancient Roman, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A pair of 18 karat gold earrings fashioned in the hemisphere motif. While many ancient Roman jewelry designs resembled those of the Greeks and the Egyptians, the hemispheric motif was purely a Roman creation. Gemstones or glass beads could easily be added to the danglers, like the black striated coral glass bead attached to one rope-patterned dangler in this example. Comes with translucent lucite mount. Total Weight: 3.6 grams Size: 1.25" L (3.2 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Private Florida collection acquired in the 1980's
