Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala, ca. 300 to 100 BCE. A finely carved tubular jade snuff tube, a marvel for its near perfectly cylindrical form and the inherent beauty of the green jade of stunning blue-green hues. Drilled laterally to serve as a snuff tube. An exquisite example with a pristine, lustrous form, carved and polished from a beautiful jade stone of rich color, probably used by an ancient shaman to snuff hallucinogenic ground seeds during ritualistic practices.
