Hamilton is a pioneer in U.S. military and technological history, one of the only prominent watchmaking companies born on American soil. Since its founding in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1886, Hamilton has adapted its classic watch models to serve train conductors, armed forces, and the marines. Unsurprisingly, by the 1930s, Hamilton was selected as the official timekeeper for US commercial airlines. During World War II, Hamilton created and distributed chronometers to allow soldiers to find longitude and location. The Hamilton Watch Company has also outfitted watches for over 300 movies, including the "2001 - A Space Odyssey." Over a century after its founding, Hamilton timepieces continue to meld Swiss craftsmanship with American tradition.
