Neoclassical style marble sculpture after 'The Dancer,' by Antonio Canova (Italian 1757-1822), late 19th century, depicting a maiden with flowers in her hair, holding the sides of her draped dress as she dances next to a tree stump, the whole having a grey wash and resting on a naturalistic base, 28.5"h x 9"w x 10"d. Condition: previous repair to front foot. Note: The original of this work was commissioned by Josephine Bonaparte and is now in the Hermitage Museum.
