Three burled wood carvings from the early 20th century. Includes: a long, slender paperweight with a chilong finial and 7 characters carved into either side; a wood taibai zun form water pot carved with a flowering tree, birds, calligraphy and 2 seals and having a burled wood stand; and a geometric ink bed and brush rest carved on the top with lotus leaves, lotus flowers, bamboo, and a landscape scene.
Dimensions are 7 5/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide by 2 inches high; 2 3/8 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches high without the stand (the stand is 5/8 of an inch high); and 5 5/8 inches long by 1 5/8 inches wide by 1 5/8 inches high, respectively. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From a Boston estate. Collected in Hong Kong in the 1950's and 1960's.
