Interesting one page letter signed by Robert J. Walker (1801-1869) as Secretary of the Treasury of the United States (March 1845 to March 1849) dated "Treasury Department July 5, 1848", authorizing payment be made "for the benefit of the Chickasaw Indians". Signed "R. J. Walker" and docket on verso. Accompanied by an engraving. The letter in FINE condition, measures 8 x 10".
